Personal updates, health insights, and the Body Design community story
Kim writes honestly about her life, her health, her recovery, and the community she has built. No filters, no spin — just Kim.
It's been a busy and inspiring few months since my last newsletter — and there's so much to share. From new classes launching this spring to updates on my continued recovery and all the ways this community keeps showing up for each other.
This summer I had a team meeting that reminded me exactly why I built Body Design. Sitting with our incredible instructors — hearing their passion, their ideas, the care they bring — I felt enormously proud of what this community has become.
One year ago today I had my Deep Brain Stimulation surgery. I have been reflecting all week on what this year has meant — the recovery, the breakthroughs, the moments of frustration, and the extraordinary progress that I honestly didn't dare hope for.
What a year. From the darkest days — needing a walker, then a wheelchair — to breakthroughs that brought me to tears with gratitude. 2024 was the year of Deep Brain Stimulation, of trusting the process, and of discovering what I was truly made of.
Seven months after surgery, I am seeing improvements I could barely imagine back in January. I've started speaking at Parkinson's support groups — sharing my story, my journey, and the lessons this experience has taught me. It feels like purpose.
Four months out from surgery and I am writing this with a full heart. I won't pretend it's been easy — recovery never is. But the improvements are real, they are measurable, and some days I can't quite believe how far I've come in so short a time.
I want to tell you the full story — from the first subtle symptoms I noticed back in 2018, to the Parkinson's diagnosis, to the decision to pursue Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in January 2024. This is where it all began, and why I believe the best is still ahead.
